Highest antigen sequence indentity to the following orthologs: Mouse (96%), Rat (96%).
This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-81994. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.
The SOX6 gene encodes a member of the SOX (SRY-related HMG-box) family of transcription factors, which are known to play vital roles in the regulation of developmental processes and cell fate determination. SOX6, along with its close relatives SOX5 and SOX13, constitutes the SOXD subfamily, which is involved in the regulation of the development of the central nervous system, skeletal system, and cartilage. It functions by binding to specific DNA sequences and modulating the expression of target genes necessary for these developmental processes. SOX6 has been implicated in various functions, such as promoting cartilage formation by acting in conjunction with SOX9 to drive chondrogenesis. In adult neural stem cells, SOX6 is essential for the activation of radial glial-like cells and the generation of new neurons, emphasizing its role in both embryonic development and adult tissue maintenance. The dysregulation of SOX6 has been associated with developmental disorders and its potential involvement in pathologies like cancer, where it influences cell differentiation and proliferation pathways.
