Immunocytochemistry analysis of GRSF1 in HeLa cells. Cells were fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde for 10 minutes at 37 &(8)451;, permeabilized with 0.05% Triton X-100 in PBS for 20 minutes, and then blocked with 2% negative goat serum for 30 minutes at room temperature. Target Information
G-rich sequence factor 1 (GRSF1) is a regulator of post-transcriptional mitochondrial gene expression. It required for assembly of the mitochondrial ribosome and for recruitment of mRNS and IncRNA. GRSF1 binds RNAs containing the 14 base G-rich element. It preferentially binds RNAs transcribed from three contiguous genes on the light strand of mtDNA, the ND6 mRNA, and the long non-coding RNAs for MT-CYB and MT-NDS - each of which contains multiple consensus binding sequences.
