General Information
• Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a member of a group of mycotoxins produced by Aspergillus flavus, and Aspergillus parasiticus showing carcinogenic activities
• AFB1 can induce the transversion of G to T in the third position of codon 249 of the p53 tumor suppressor gene, resulting in a mutation and promoting the carcinogenic process
Applications
• Aflatoxin B1 shows teratogenic activity
• It is a CYP1A2, CYP2A6, CYP2D6, and CYP3A substrate and can be used to study the CYP family in in vitro and in vivo studies.
• It can cause immunosuppression in animal models.
