General Information
• Dexamethasone is a synthetic adrenal glucocorticoid that modulates carbohydrate metabolism, inhibits adrenocorticotropic hormone secretion, and has pronounced anti-inflammatory activity
• Dexamethasone can bind to specific nuclear steroid receptors, inhibiting pro-inflammatory signals, promoting anti-inflammatory signals, and interfering with NF-kB activation and apoptotic pathways
Applications
• It can be used to study apoptosis, cell signaling pathways, and gene expression
• This compound also shows adrenergic, antiemetic, and antineoplastic activities
• It has been used as an important regulator of cellular proliferation and differentiation in vitro human cell cultures
• Dexamethasone has been applied in culture media to promote the differentiation of adipose-derived stem cells into osteogenic tissue
• It is used in in vitro stimulation of primary normal human bronchial epithelial cells (NHBE) and airway smooth muscle (ASM)
• This compound is used for its ability to regulate T cell survival, growth, and differentiation.
• It can also inhibit the induction of nitric oxide synthase.
