General Description

  • Heparin sodium salt displays anti-coagulant activity. It can also efficiently inhibit mesenchymal cell proliferation and promotes the proliferation of primary epithelial cells
  • This compound can bind to antithrombin III and inhibit coagulation proteases

Applications

  • In in vitro studies, it is used as the main component of serum-free media to prevent cell aggregation
  • Heparin sodium salt can also induce the growth of human embryonic stem cells in a defined serum-free medium, acting as a cofactor for a basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF-2)
  • It is also applied in laboratory studies related to stem cell differentiation and growth
  • In in vitro studies this compound exhibits cytotoxic action inducing cancer cell death by interfering with transcription factor activity
