Syringic acid is used as an inhibitor of poly(ethylene glycol) oxidation. It is used for the preparation of poly(1,4-phenylene oxide). It is added as an additive in wine and vinegar.

Applications

Solubility
Soluble in methanol (50 mg/ml), water (5.78 mg/ml at 25°C), chloroform: methanol (1:1), ethyl alcohol, and DMF.

Storage temperature: 2 - 4°C. Avoid excessive heat and light. Air and moisture sensitive.
