Trimethylsilyl isocyanate is used in the preparation of 1-unsubstituted 4-(dialkylamino) imidazolin-2-ones. It finds application in the carbamoylation of aromatic hydrocarbons and alcohols. It is also used in the preparation of primary amides from Grignard reagents. Further, it is used in the synthesis of cyclic imides. It is also utilized for the synthesis of trifluoroacetyl isocyanate and cyclic imides. In addition to this, it is employed in the conversion of isocyanates to carbodiimides using cyclopentadienyl Mn(CO)
3 catalysis.
This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
