Carry out rapid detection of Chlamydia antigen in clinical samples with Thermo Scientific™ IDEIA™ PCE Chlamydia Kit – an immunoassay utilizing dual amplification technology for detection of Chlamydia antigen in human urethral and endocervical swabs and male urine samples. The test utilizes Chlamydia genus-specific monoclonal antibody of established specificity. The presence of Chlamydia antigen in clinical specimens is indicated by the colored end point.
Chlamydia trachomotis is one of the most prevalent pathogens in the world causing a variety of human infections. It is also the most common cause of sexually transmitted diseases 1, 2.
Use IDEIA PCE Chlamydia Kit as a sensitive, specific and economical means of routinely diagnosing Chlamydial infections.3, 4, 5
Diagnostic methods for detection of Chlamydia include traditional culture techniques which are dependent upon the presence of viable elementary bodies in clinical specimens. Elementary bodies undergo replication in cell culture and the inclusions formed are detected microscopically using conventional or immunofluorescence staining techniques. Most commonly, diagnosis of Chlamydia infection is performed either by direct detection of Chlamydia elementary bodies in clinical specimens using immunofluorescent monoclonal antibody reagents (e.g. IMAGEN™ Chlamydia) or by detection of Chlamydia antigen by immunoassays3. Other methods include techniques such as the polymerase chain reaction for detection of Chlamydia nucleic acids4. Culture techniques are expensive and require specialized laboratory facilities. Methods for detection of nucleic acids also require specialized equipment and laboratory facilities to minimize specificity problems. Direct detection by immunofluorescence staining becomes labor intensive when used to routinely screen large numbers of specimens. Amplified immunoassay techniques for antigen detection (e.g. IDEIA PCE Chlamydia) provide a sensitive, specific and economical means of routinely diagnosing Chlamydial infections.3, 4, 5
