Description: The polyclonal antibody reacts with both mouse and rat CXCL12 beta (SDF-1 beta). It was generated using E. coli-expressed N terminal amino acids 20-93 of mouse CXCL12 beta as an immunogen. CXCL12 beta, also known as pre-B-cell growth-stimulating factor (PBSF) and stromal cell-derived factor-beta (SDF-1 beta), is a 74-amino acid CXC chemokine originally cloned from a bone marrow stromal cell line. Targeted deletion of CXCL12 gene resulted in defects of B-cell lymphopoiesis and bone marrow myelopoiesis in mice. CXCL12 has been shown to be chemotactic for lymphocytes. In addition, CXCL12 was recently reported to be a ligand for CXCR4 (LESTR/fusin), a co-receptor for HIV-1 entry into T cells. CXCL12 binding to CXCR4 inhibits HIV-1 entry.
Applications Reported: This polyclonal can be used in immunoblotting (WB), immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemistry. Cross-reactivity to CXCL12 beta of other species has not been determined.
Applications Tested: To achieve best results, titrate antibody by dilution for each application as follows:
Western Blot 1:1000
Immunoprecipitation 1:300-500
Immunohistochemistry 1:100-500.
Purity: Greater than 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Aggregation: Less than 10%, as determined by HPLC.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
CXCL12 is a stromal cell-derived alpha chemokine member of the intercrine family. This gene product and its receptor CXCR4 can activate lymphocytes and have been implicated in the metastasis of some cancers such as breast cancer. Mutations in this gene are associated with resistance to human immunodeficiency virus type 1 infections. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
