Anza™ T4 PNK Kit

Description

The Invitrogen™ Anza™ T4 PNK (polynucleotide kinase) Kit is used to perform 5’-phosphorylation of DNA and oligonucleotides. T4 PNK exhibits 5’ polynucleotide kinase and 3’ phosphatase activity, catalyzing the transfer of the terminal phosphate of ATP to a 5’ hydroxyl group of a nucleic acid.

When preparing DNA for the ligation step in cloning, either the insert DNA or the vector DNA should contain a 5’ phosphate. Often PCR-amplified DNA is treated with T4 PNK to phosphorylate the 5’ end for subsequent cloning ligation.
