MARCKS Antibody (PA5-143575) in ICC/IF
Immunofluorescent analysis of MARCKS in HeLa cells. Samples were stained with MARCKS polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-143575) using a dilution of 1:5,000 (red). Costained with mouse mAb to beta tubulin (Product # MA5-47383) dilution 1:10,000 in green. The blue is Hoechst staining of nuclear DNA. The MARKS antibody binds to MARCKS protein expressed in the plasma membrane and cytoplasm, while the beta tubulin antibody stains cytoplasmic microtubules.

Target Information
MARCKS is a substrate for protein kinase C. It is localized to the plasma membrane and is an actin filament crosslinking protein. Phosphorylation by protein kinase C or binding to calcium-calmodulin inhibits its association with actin and with the plasma membrane, leading to its presence in the cytoplasm. The protein is thought to be involved in cell motility, phagocytosis, membrane trafficking and mitogenesis.
