This year, EuroMedLab was held in the vibrant city of Brussels, Belgium. The 26th IFCC-EFLM EuroMedLab Congress of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine was held alongside the 49th Annual Meeting of the Royal Belgian Society of Laboratory Medicine. It provided a platform for clinical chemists and laboratory medicine specialists from across Europe and beyond to share their experiences and insights.
Conference themes
The major themes of the conference were laboratory automation, and ‘doing more with less’. These themes resonate deeply in the clinical laboratory industry, given current pressures including reduced budgets, increased economic uncertainty, and staffing challenges at both entry and experienced levels.

Educational workshop highlights
We were proud to host an educational workshop focused on the EXENT System, featuring presentations from Louis Nevejan (Belgium) and Dr. Noemi Puig (Spain). Louis Nevejan discussed the technical benefits and implementation of the EXENT System in clinical laboratories, highlighting its advantages over traditional gel-based testing. Dr. Noemi Puig emphasized the clinical value of mass spectrometry in managing monoclonal gammopathies and its complementarity to BM-based MRD assessment.
Engaging with the community
Interacting with laboratory professionals at EuroMedLab was a pleasure. We discussed how Binding Site solutions already help deliver high-quality laboratory results for clinicians and patients, and we gained valuable insights into how we can further support their needs.
Personal reflections
It is pleasing to see the company’s work on IVDR enable customers to continue or begin to use our products. Both existing and new products are enabling smoother workflows at customer sites, in the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases of testing.
The presentations by Louis Nevejan and Dr. Noemi Puig during the EXENT workshop were particularly impactful. Louis Nevejan's insights into the implementation of the EXENT System in clinical laboratories highlighted the significant advantages of moving away from conventional gel-based technologies. Dr. Noemi Puig's discussion on the clinical value of mass spectrometry in managing monoclonal gammopathies was especially eye-opening. Her balanced perspective on how the EXENT System can replace IFE underscored the potential of mass spectrometry to influence clinical decisions and indicate disease progression.
Being part of this conference was truly inspiring. It reinforced the transformative potential of Binding Site’s products and innovations in real-world clinical practice. It was great to be part of the event, to engage with customers about our available solutions and some of the future plans. Hearing directly from customers how they could benefit from our solutions like LabLink xL was invaluable and very encouraging.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited our booth for their time and the knowledge they shared.
