Learn how Routine Laboratories Can Benefit from Triple Quadrupole ICP-MS Technology

          • Overview
          • About the presenters

Triple quadrupole ICP-MS instruments have helped to take the analysis of trace elements to a new level, delivering better interference removal and significantly improved detection limits for key analytes, such as phosphorous, arsenic, or selenium. Because of this, these instruments can help to overcome a variety of typical challenges routine laboratories face. For example, the ability to remove additional interferences, such as doubly charged interferences, increases the confidence in data quality and helps to reduce time consuming and labor intensive re-runs or post-analysis data treatment.

Triple quadrupole instruments use reactive cell gases such as oxygen or ammonia to remove interferences based on different chemical reactivity. However, in comparison to single quadrupole ICP-MS systems, the technique is often perceived as difficult to set up especially for non-expert users such as lab managers coming from a different technological background or laboratory technicians.

Modern triple quadrupole ICP-MS instruments will easily help you to overcome initial difficulties with method setup based on straightforward design and intuitive software, allowing all laboratories and all staff levels to access the full potential of this technique.

This webcast will show you how the triple-quadrupole ICP-MS instruments can help to solve the above-mentioned challenges. The presentation will feature key examples from leading industry laboratories on how triple quadrupole ICP-MS has helped them to solve or improve on their challenges with trace elemental analysis.

          Key learning objectives

          In this webcast, you will:

          • Learn why expert laboratories in the chemical industry apply triple quadrupole ICP-MS systems for their work in order to get more accurate results
          • Get to know the key benefits of triple quadrupole ICP-MS and how it removes all potential interferences
          • Discover how easy it is using modern software tools to integrate improved technology for sampling and analysis into your laboratory and reach another level of analytical possibilities
          • Find out how your laboratory will benefit from upgrading to triple quadrupole ICP-MS routine analysis with no obstacles for your operators

Dr. Daniel Kutscher, Product Marketing Specialist, Thermo Fisher Scientific

Daniel earned a degree in Chemistry at the University of Mainz, Germany, in 2007. Following that, Daniel joined the Analytical Spectrometry Group at the University of Oviedo, Spain, where he obtained his PhD in 2011. His main research interest in that time was the use of elemental labelling of proteins and peptides to explore new technologies based on elemental mass spectrometry for their accurate quantification.

Daniel joined Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2011 as a Product Specialist for ICP-MS focusing on hyphenated techniques, such as IC-ICP-MS, and finding solutions for the high-throughput analysis of challenging sample types. In 2018, became a Product Marketing Specialist.

Kerstin Vogel, Research Scientist, The Dow Chemical Company

Kerstin received her M.S. and B.S. in Marine Environmental Science and Geo Chemistry from University of Oldenburg in 2001, Germany. Following that, Kerstin joined the Geochemistry Group at the University of Bremen, Germany. Her main research interest in that time was the investigation of elemental distribution patterns in marine sediments off NW Africa as indicators for climatic changes in the past. The project included the participation on two research vessel (METEOR) cruises.

Kerstin joined Dow in 2005 as a Subject Matter Expert in Analytical Chemistry (ICP, Atomic Adsorption, Elemental Analysis and Ion Chromatography). She focusses on the usage of ICP-OES and –MS for challenging sample matrices and hyphenated techniques such as SEC-ICP-OES/MS and developing new methods in these fields of applications. In 2018, she became Research Scientist in Core R&D Analytical Science.

Adrian Seaton, ICP-MS Technical Specialist, Johnson Matthey

Adrian earned a degree in Chemistry at Coventry University, England in 1992, which encompassed a year in industry working in the detergent industry. After university his first full-time employment was with a fertilizer company analyzing fertilizer using ICP-OES and colorimetric techniques. He joined Johnson Matthey in 1997 as Shift Analyst analyzing base metal sponges and compounds, precious metal sponges and compounds and rare earth oxides using emission spectrographic techniques, ICP-OES, atomic absorption spectrometry and x-ray fluorescence. Adrian began using in ICP-MS in 2001. In 2010, became an ICP-MS Technical Specialist.
