It is also used in photography, to make bromides and organic chemicals, as a therapeutic sedative and hypnotic, and formerly as a veterinary medicine. It also finds its applications to control algae, bacteria, and fungi in water systems (pasteurizing, canning, pulp & paper manufacturing, and ornamental ponds); and used to repel moths from clothing and fleas from pets.
