A thin layer of Carbon conductive cement adhesive should be used for powders or very light specimens. If powders are going to be mounted, allow a short drying period (of several minutes) before mounting, so that the powder does not sink into the wet cement. Some trial and error for exact drying time may be necessary.
For bulk specimens, a heavier layer should be painted on the specimen stub. Heavier specimens can be placed directly into the wet cement.
Drying is the physical process of the evaporation of the organic solvents in the product. After fully drying, only carbon (with acrylic binding agents) will remain. Depending upon the thickness of the layer, the drying time varies from a few seconds (very thin films) up to 30 minutes (for a heavy coating).
