No, LYNX 4000 and 6000 are floor-standing superspeed centrifuges. For benchtop options, consider other Thermo Scientific centrifuge families like general purpose models or for extreme speed requirements, the benchtop version of the micro-ultracentrifuge.
Yes, LYNX centrifuges are compatible with the Thermo Scientific Centri-Vue App, which enables real-time tracking and control of multiple centrifuges from a mobile device.
All LYNX centrifuges feature the Centri-Touch touchscreen interface for intuitive control and the option to add Centri-Log Plus Software to support FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.
All current LYNX models feature the innovative GreenCool Technology using CO2 refrigerant. Ventilated options are not available in the LYNX series.
The LYNX 6000 offers higher capacity (6 L vs 4 L), higher maximum speed (29,000 rpm vs 24,000 rpm), higher RCF (100,605 x g vs 68,905 x g), and includes additional features like the Smart Vacuum System and optional HEPA filter for enhanced biosafety. Only the LYNX 6000 can run the continuous-flow and zonal rotors
Basic installation is typically included, but comprehensive training and extended setup services may incur additional costs. Consult with your sales representative about package options
Yes, Thermo Scientific offers compliance services including IQ/OQ (Installation Qualification/Operational Qualification) documentation and execution to meet regulatory requirements. Learn more at thermofisher.com/unitylabservices
LYNX centrifuges are available in multiple voltage options: 200/240V and 380/400V configurations, with specific models available for different regional power standards.
No, installation is typically performed by a certified Thermo Scientific service technician who will ensure proper setup, leveling, and initial testing of the centrifuge.
It is location dependent. Delivery times typically range from 2-8 weeks depending on product availability, customization requirements, and your location. Contact your sales representative for current lead times.
LYNX centrifuges are manufactured in Osterode am Harz, Germany at a certified zero-waste facility powered by 100% renewable electricity.
Rotors are typically ordered separately to allow customers to select the specific rotor(s) that best meet their application requirements. Check with your sales representative for current package offerings.
Clean the rotor chamber, rotor and accessories daily or when they are soiled. Housing of the centrifuge should be cleaned monthly while condenser filter and ventilation holes should be every six months

Yes, LYNX 4000 and 6000 models can be used in the harvesting and clarification step of bioprocessing applications. They can both spin 1000 mL bottles for high throughput.
Yes, consider using the LYNX 6000 Superspeed Centrifuge and T29-8x50 Fixed Angle Rotor for this application.
Yes, the LYNX 6000 model supports continuous flow/zonal rotors for large-scale separations and bioprocessing applications.
LYNX centrifuges can accommodate a wide variety of tube sizes from microcentrifuge tubes to large 1,000 mL bottles, depending on the rotor and adapter selection. The rotor guide indicates the tube’s specifications and can be found on the product page under #documents.
The rotors of the previous model (Thermo Scientific Sorvall LYNX centrifuge) can be used in the LYNX centrifuge with GreenCool Technology. Rotors from other discontinued Sorvall superspeed centrifuges cannot be used with the current model. The LYNX series features the advanced AutoLock rotor exchange system, which previous discontinued Sorvall superspeed centrifuges did not have.
LYNX 6000 and LYNX 4000 supports up to 19 different rotors including Fiberlite Carbon Fiber rotors, fixed-angle rotors, swinging bucket rotors, and (for LYNX 6000 only) continuous flow/zonal rotors for large-scale separations.
Auto-Lock rotor exchange for secure rotor installation
Drive: Induction drive without carbon brushes

GreenCool Technology for superspeed and large-capacity centrifuges is a natural refrigerant (CO2) cooling system. Centrifuges with this technology significantly reduce the environmental impact with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 1 and comply with upcoming EU and US EPA F-gas regulations. It reduces energy consumption by up to 13% for superspeed centrifuges, up to 14% for blood banking units and up to 15% for bioprocessing centrifuges when compared to previous models. Additional benefits are less weight and less noise of these centrifuges than prior units.
Maximum capacity of 6 L (6 x 1000 mL), maximum speed of 29,000 rpm, and maximum RCF of 100,605 x g
