• Chlortetracycline hydrochloride is a broad-spectrum antibiotic of the tetracycline family
• Receives its name from a 7-chloro substitution on one of the rings of its parent structure, tetracycline
• A bacteriostatic that inhibits the 30S ribosomal subunit and prevents peptide formation
• Can work as an antiprotozoal and antifungal
