Applications
A glycoside used to permeabilize cellular membranesSaponin is used as dietary supplements and nutraceuticals and as adjuvants in the production of vaccines. It finds application in food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors. It is used as a liquid soap, jewelry polish, detergent, pet shampoo, surfactant and wetting agent. It is also involved as anti-microbe to treat malaria, lower cholesterol, support to immune system, in bone strength and for hyper tension. Further, it is used as animal feed and an automobile cleaner.
