Thermo Scientific Pierce Iodoacetamide or Chloroacetamide are provided in a no-weigh format, where small amounts of reagent are pre-weighed and packaged for single use. This single-use format prevents the contamination and loss of reagent reactivity over time associated with repetitive opening and closing of a single vial. The format enables use of a fresh vial of reagent each time, and eliminates the hassle of weighing out small amounts of reagent.
Alkylating reagents iodoacetamide and chloracetamide are sulfhydryl-reactive alkylating reagents used to block reduced cysteine residues for protein characterization and peptide mapping. Alkylation with iodoacetamide or chloracetamide after cysteine reduction results in the covalent addition of a carbamidomethyl group (57.07 Da) and prevents the formation of disulfide bonds. Reducing agents added after alkylation will react with excess iodoacetamide.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

How does a product with "No-Weigh" format reduce my concern over reagent stability?

The No-Weigh product format, where small amounts of reagent are pre-weighed and packaged separately, prevents the contamination and loss of reagent reactivity over time associated with repetitive opening and closing of a single vial. This format enables use of a fresh vial of reagent each time and eliminates the hassle of weighing out small amounts of reagent. Abstract
Clean and Complete Protein Digestion with an Autolysis Resistant Trypsin for Peptide Mapping.

Peptide mapping requires cleavage of proteins in a predictable fashion so that target protein-specific peptides can be reliably identified and quantified. Trypsin, a commonly used protease in this process, can also undergo self-cleavage or autolysis, thereby reducing the effectivity and even cleavage specificity at lysine and arginine residues. During the course of their life cycle, most RNAs move between several cellular environments where they associate with different RNA binding proteins (RBPs). Reciprocally, a significant portion of RBPs reside in more than a single cellular compartment, where they can interact with discrete RNAs and even exert distinct biological roles. ... More
