Dimethylamine is used as a precursor in the preparation of nitrosodimethylamine.

Hygroscopic. Incompatible with oxidizing agents and oxygen,Sodium aluminum hydride, sodium tetrahydroaluminate, lithium tetrahydroaluminate, borane, metal halides, strong acids, caustic alkalis and bromine.
