Endothelin 1 has been used for coating wells in polystyrene ELISA plates. Potent agonist for ETA and ETB endothelia receptors. Induces the production of hypoxia-inducible factor 1α, and, thus, the production of VEGF.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.

General Description

• Endothelin-1 is a peptide that belongs to the endothelin family, with potent vasoconstrictor activity that is synthesized and secreted by activated endothelial cells. It is considered a marker for activated or dysfunctional endothelial cells

Application

• Endothelin-1 acts as a modulator of vasomotor tone, cell proliferation, and hormone production.

• In the laboratory, endothelin-1 has been used to coat wells in polystyrene ELISA plates

• It is a potent agonist for ETA and ETB endothelial receptors. Therefore, after receptor activation, this compound induces the production of hypoxia-inducible factor 1α and, thus, the production of VEGF

• It has been used to study the production and detection of H2O2 and production of NO in the presence of endothelin-1

• It has been utilized in studies to understand the effects of endothelin-1 on protein kinase C activity in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC)
