This reaction will need solvent tetrahydrofuran. it is applied as a selective formylating agent for one of two amino groups in such basic amino acids as ornithine or lysine.

Solubility
Soluble in water, chloroform and dichloromethane. Slightly soluble in ethyl acetate.
