Pyranine is used as a fluorescent pH indicator with emission change in the physiological pH range. It acts as a dye in optical sensor applications. It finds application as a coloring agent and biological stain. It is also used in the measurement of pH of intracellular fluid in the cells.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.

Applications
Pyranine is used as a fluorescent pH indicator with emission change in the physiological pH range. It acts as a dye in optical sensor applications. It finds application as a coloring agent and biological stain. It is also used in the measurement of pH of intracellular fluid in the cells.

Solubility
Soluble in water and glacial acetic acid.

Notes
This dye is a highly water soluble, brightly fluorescent dye useful as a fluorescent pH indicator with emission change in the physiological pH range and as a dye in optical sensor applications.Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
