Microplates for fluorescence-based assays are black-walled, clear-bottom microplates that minimize well-to-well crosstalk and autofluorescence. These 96- and 384-well microplates are compatible with standard fluorescence microplate readers and optimized for fluorescence-based applications including nucleic acid quantitation (e.g., Quant-iT assays, including PicoGreen, RiboGreen, and OliGreen).

Features of the microplates for fluorescence-based assays include:

  • Black-walled design—minimizes well-to-well crosstalk and autofluorescence
  • Clear-bottom wells—allows for optimal fluorescence detection
  • Compatibility—suitable for standard fluorescence microplate readers
  • Optimized for fluorescence microplate assays—ideal for nucleic acid quantitation (e.g., Quant-iT assays)
  • Versatile formats—available in 96- and 384-well configurations

よくあるご質問(FAQ)

What kind of 96-well plate do I need for my fluorescent assay?

Select a microplate that is compatible with your instrument. Refer to the manufacturer's manual for types of microplates that are recommended for use with your instrument.

Various types of plastic may autofluoresce. Select a microplate that is rated for fluorescence-based assays and exhibits little or no autofluorescence in the emission range of the reagent you wish to use.

Clear plates are routinely used for fluorescence-based assays, but opaque-walled microplates reduce bleed-through between wells. If you are using live cells, you may need to consider special substrate treatments for the bottom of the wells, such as poly-L-lysine.
