Lanthanum (La)

Lanthanum (La)

Lanthanum ([Xe]5d16s2) (CAS 7493-91-0) is silvery-white, soft, ductile, and malleable. It oxidizes rapidly when exposed to air and its reaction with water is temperature dependent. It is one of the most reactive of the rare earth metals. The metal is superconducting at approximately 6K.
