MEK2 Antibody (700829) in ICC/IF
Immunofluorescent analysis of MEK2 in HeLa cells using a MEK2 recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody (Product # 700829) at a dilution of 10 µg/mL followed by detection using an Alexa Fluor 488-conjugated goat anti-rabbit secondary antibody at a dilution of 1:1000. Cells were counterstained with Alexa Fluor 568 Phalliodin (Product # A12380) and treated with SlowFade Gold with DAPI (Product # S36936).

This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, chicken, mouse and rat based on sequence homology.
Intact IgG appears on a non-reducing gel as ~150 kDa band and upon reduction generating a ~25 kDa light chain band and a ~50 kDa heavy chain.
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning in the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Then, individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production. The advantages of using recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies include: better specificity and sensitivity, lot-to-lot consistency, animal origin-free formulations, and broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire.
Target Information
MAP2K2 (MEK2) is a dual specificity serine/threonine kinase that is known to play a critical role in mitogen growth factor signal transduction. Mitogen activated protein kinase 2 (MEK2 or MAPKK2) is a member of a family of tyrosine/threonine protein kinases that activate the ERK1 and 2 and MAPK enzymes by phosphorylating both residues within the threonine/glutamate/tyrosine (TEY) motif in the activation loop. MEK1 and 2 are also activated by dual phosphorylation, which occurs on serine 218 and 222, in the activation loop of the MEK. Threonine 292 of MEK1 is phosphorylated by ERK 2, which serves as a negative feedback loop by suppressing activation of MEK1.
