          rRNA Antibody (MA5-16062) in ICC/IF

Immunocytochemistry analysis of rRNA in HeLa cells. Samples were incubated with rRNA monoclonal antibody (Product # MA5-16062) using a dilution of 5 µg/mL for 1 hour at room temperature. Cells were fixed and permeabilized for 10 minutes using -20°C MeOH. Nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (Blue). Cells were imaged using a 40X objective. {{ $ctrl.currentElement.advancedVerification.fullName }} validation info. View more

          Target Information

rRNA (ribosomal RNA) forms a major structural component of ribosomes which provides a mechanism for decoding mRNA information into amino acids/proteins through the process of translation. rRNA plays a key role in accurate positioning of mRNA as well as peptidyl tRNA, and also plays a structural role in peptidyl transferase activity by generating scaffolds where ribosomal proteins are assembled. rRNA is generated inside nucleolus, which is localized in nucleus of the cells and contains genes essential for encoding rRNA. Defective rRNA may implicate in certain pathologies, for example: decreased rRNA expression has been observed in subjects with myelodysplastic syndromes, and abnormal rRNA expression has also been linked to Alzheimer's disease.
