Western blot analysis of VIP in extracts of various cell lines. Samples were incubated with VIP Polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-120606) using a dilution of 1:1,000, followed by HRP Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) at a dilution of 1:10,000. Lysates/proteins: 25 µg per lane. Blocking buffer: 3% nonfat dry milk in TBST. Detection: ECL Basic Kit. Exposure time: 60s.

Target Information
VIP encodes a protein that belongs to the glucagon family. It stimulates myocardial contractility, causes vasodilation, increases glycogenolysis, lowers arterial blood pressure and relaxes the smooth muscle of trachea, stomach and gall bladder. Alternative splicing occurs at this locus and two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
