Description

Sodium hydrogen phosphate is used in food and water treatment in conjunction with trisodium phosphate. It is used as an emulsifier and buffer in foods and pharmaceuticals, anti-caking additive in powdered products, dietary supplement, scale inhibitor, reagent and buffer in analytical chemistry. It finds application in detergents, cleaning agents, textile, leather auxiliary, fertilizers and galvanoplastics. Further, it is used as a saline laxative to treat constipation. It inhibits the calcium scale formation in water treatment plants.

Solubility
Soluble in water. Insoluble in ethanol, methanol and n-octanol.

Notes
Hygroscopic. Incompatible with strong acids, strong oxidizing agents and strong bases.
