PA1-26846 detects Avidin. PA1-26846 will not react with streptavidin.
PA1-26846 has been successfully used in immunohistochemistry (paraffin) (frozen), ELISA and Western blot procedures.
The PA1-26846 immunogen is Avidin from hen egg white.
The biological functin of avidin is not known. It is a homotetrameric glycoprotein found in chicken egg white, and forms a strong non covalent specific complex with biotin (one molecule of biotin per subunit of avidin).
