VASH1 is a protein that possesses actin binding activity and metallocarboxypeptidase activity. It is involved in several processes including negative regulation of angiogenesis, negative regulation of blood vessel endothelial cell migration, and proteolysis. VASH1 acts upstream of or within processes such as negative regulation of endothelial cell migration, negative regulation of endothelial cell proliferation, and negative regulation of lymphangiogenesis. It is located in the apical part of the cell, endoplasmic reticulum, and extracellular space. VASH1 is implicated in liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension, and is a biomarker of liver cirrhosis. Diseases associated with VASH1 include Portal Hypertension and Myasthenic Syndrome, Congenital, 14.
