Phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) is a balanced salt formulation used for a variety of cellular applications, such as washing cells/tissue during immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunocytochemistry (ICC); transporting cells or tissue; diluting cells for counting; and preparing reagents. PBS is formulated without calcium and magnesium. Each PBS tablet should be dissolved in 100 mL of distilled water. This buffer contains 10 mM phosphate, 150 mM sodium chloride, pH 7.3 to 7.5.

NOTE: These tablets are not sterile and so should not be used for cell culture or live cells without filtering through a 0.2 μM filter.
