The 5500 SOLiD® Fragment 48 Library Core Kit is used to construct fragment libraries using liquid handling automation for sequencing on 5500 Series genetic analysis systems. This kit contains the necessary reagents (enzymes, buffers, and PCR Amplification mix) for preparing 48 fragment libraries. The kit consists of a 5500 SOLiD® Fragment 48 Library Enzyme Module and a 5500 SOLiD® Fragment 48 Library Amplification Module . Use this kit in conjunction with either the 5500 SOLiD® Fragment Library Standard Adaptors or the appropriate 5500 SOLiD® Fragment Library Barcode Adaptor kit. The 5500 SOLiD™ Fragment 48 Library Core Kit is specifically optimized for use with 5500 Series genetic analysis systems.

Fragment libraries consist of short lengths of DNA specifically selected for optimal performance with a next generation sequencing platform for applications such as targeted or whole genome resequencing. The 5500 SOLiD™ fragment library preparation protocol takes DNA through shearing, end-repair, A-tailing, and ligation with only one intervening bead-based purification that doubles as a size selection step. In many cases, subsequent library amplification is not needed, allowing high complexity libraries to be brought directly into the clonal amplification step.
