The streptavidin, Alexa Fluor™ 647-R-phycoerythrin streptavidin tandem conjugate has excitation and emission maxima at ∼496,565/667 and is widely used to detect biotinylated probes by flow cytometry in multicolor applications using a single excitation wavelength, 488 nm. The Alexa Fluor™ 647 conjugates of R-PE have emission spectra almost identical to those of Cy5-R-PE conjugates but tend to have more intesne long-wavelength emission and to require less compensation in the R-PE channel.
