MA5-12247 targets IGF-1 in WB applications and shows reactivity with Human, mouse, and Rat samples.
The MA5-12247 immunogen is purified human IGF-1.
Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) is involved in regulation of neuronal growth and development in central and peripheral nervous system. It is known to protect neurons against cell death induced by amyloidogenic derivatives, glucose or serum deprivation through pathways involving AKT kinase and transcription factor FKHRL1 phosphorylation. Activation of the insulin-like growth factor system has emerged as a key factor for tumor progression and resistance to apoptosis in many cancers like breast and thyroid cancers.

Castration-induced epithelial cell death in human prostate tissue is related to locally reduced IGF-1 levels.
MA5-12247 was used in immunohistochemistry to study the role of stromal IGF-1 levels in prostate epithelial cell death following castration
