While functionally the same as a polyclonal antibody—recognizing multiple epitope sites on the target and producing higher detection sensitivity for low abundance targets when compared with monoclonal antibodies—an oligoclonal antibody has a known mixture of light and heavy chains. This exact population can be produced in every lot, circumventing the biological variability typically associated with polyclonal antibody production.
Intact IgG appears on a non-reducing gel as ~150 kDa band and upon reduction generating a ~25 kDa light chain band and a ~50 kDa heavy chain.
Interleukin 27, or IL-27 is a cytokine belonging to the IL-12 family. It is a heterodimeric cytokine composed of EBI3 and p28 subunits. IL-27 is produced by activated dendritic cells and macrophages in response to Toll-like receptor ligands and pro-inflammatory cytokines. IL-27 promotes CD4+ T cell differentiation to the Th1 lineage by inducing expression of the transcription factor T-bet and up regulating IL-12R beta2, which in turn suppresses Th2 and Th17 differentiation and proliferation. In humans, the gene is located on the p arm of chromosome 16.
