hnRNPK is most extensively studied among heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins family, which plays an important role in cell signaling, telomere elongation, DNA repair and regulation of expression at both transcriptional and translational levels. It is a highly conserved RNA/DNA-binding protein which interacts with different classes of factors of extracellular signals.
