Trichlorosilane is used to prepare silicon for semiconductors. It is an active ingredient used in the preparation of polysilicons and silicone resins. It acts as coupling agents and silane adhesion promoter. It is a precursor to prepare organosilicon compounds through hydrosilylation reactions. Further, it is involved in the preparation of octadecyltrichlorosilane, perfluoroctyltrichlorosilane, and perfluordecyltrichlorosilane.
