The 54 kDa protein, cytokeratin 7, is found in most glandular and transitional epithelia. It has detected cytokeratin 7 in a large number of epithelial cell types, including many ductal and glandular epithelia by immunohistochemistry of paraffin-embedded tissue. Primarily, cytokeratin 7 antibody does not react with stratified squamous epithelia but is reactive with transitional epithelium of the urinary tract. Positive tissue: Pancreas/bladder cancer. This antibody is specific for cytokeratin 7, and does not exhibit cross-reactivity with other filament types, including vimentin, desmin, glial fibrillary acidic protein and neurofilament protein.
Expected Staining Pattern: Cytoplasmic
Cytokeratin 7 blocks interferon-dependent interphase and stimulates DNA synthesis in cells. Involved in the translational regulation of the human papillomavirus type 16 E7 mRNA (HPV16 E7).
