Silicone oil is used as a calibration media in temperature controlled baths in laboratories due to its good thermal characteristics and low flammability. It is also used as active component in silicone grease, lubricants and heat transfer fluids. It finds application in cosmetics, hair conditioners and as a sorbent for the analysis of headspace (dissolved gas analysis) of food.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
