Versatile Cyanobacteria for Study or Bioproduction
The cyanobacterium Synechococcus elongatus strain PCC 7942, is an excellent system for studying photosynthesis, circadian rhythms, nutrient regulation, environmental response, and lipid metabolism. Cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae, are a common platform for bioproduction of alcohols and chemicals due to their small genome size and the ease with which it can be genetically manipulated by natural transformation.

Shorten the Time from Cloning to Expression
Cells are ready for transformation typically in less than 5 days with straightforward, robust resuscitation and growth protocols. GeneArt® Synechococcus pSyn_1/D-TOPO® Vector facilitates rapid, directional TOPO® cloning of blunt-end PCR products for regulated expression in Synechococcus elongatus. Gibco® BG-11 Media, included with this kit, is optimized for the growth and maintenance of select Cyanobacteria including Synechococcus elongatus. The 1X formulation lets you avoid laborious media preparation steps. Synechococcus elongatus TOPO® Cloning Vector
