It is applied as a reagent for the detection and determination of cyanide. It is also used in an experimental procedure, done in order to remove linamarin in starch from cassava roots, by using plant cell wall-degrading enzymes, xylanase and cellulase. It was also used for spectrophotometric determination and quantization of urea in urine samples. It is also used in assay of cyanogenic compounds and determination of ammonia.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
