E-Gel® EX Gels are the fastest-resolving gels in the E-Gel® product line. They are pre-cast 1% and 2% gels in the E-Gel® format with 11 wells and a novel, openable format. The gels contain a proprietary fluorescent nucleic acid stain (excitation: 490 nm, emission: 520 nm) that can be viewed with blue light, which minimizes DNA damage and allows detection down to 1 ng/band of DNA.

Ultra-sensitive detection of DNA
E-Gel® EX gels were developed for ultimate sensitivity and demonstrate over 5-fold greater sensitivity than comparable gels containing ethidium bromide. The superior sensitivity allows you to use lower amounts of sample, saving time and money.

Quick check of RNA samples
E-Gel® EX gels can also be used for fast analysis of RNA samples to check on their integrity before proceeding with downstream applications.

Live monitoring of DNA migration
A proprietary stain incorporated in the gels is excitable by visible blue light, allowing safe, real-time monitoring of DNA or RNA migration with the E-Gel® Safe Imager Real-Time Transilluminator.

Easy access to the gel
The gel cassette is designed to open with Gel Knife, so that the gel inside can be accessed readily for excision of specific bands or transferred to a membrane for Southern blot analysis.

Nucleic acid markers
The room-temperature stable, ready-to-use E-Gel® 1 Kb Plus DNA Ladder is premixed with loading buffer and is formulated specifically for maximum performance on E-Gel® EX gels as well as other E-Gel® precast gels. Standard ladders not premixed with loading buffer may also be used, but in significantly lower amounts than required for other gels. 0.1–2 Kb and 0.5–10 Kb RNA ladders may be used when separating RNA samples.

Running and viewing apparatus
E-Gel® EX gels require the E-Gel® iBase™ Power System for running and the E-Gel® Safe Imager™ Real-Time Transilluminator for real-time viewing of sample migration.
