Description

The E-Gel® CloneWell 0.8% SYBR® Safe gels and E-Gel® iBase™ Power System provide the easiest, most effective method for isolating DNA bands separated by agarose gel electrophoresis. You will:
• Save time - there are no additional gel purification steps required after electrophoresis
• Simplify DNA recovery - remove purified DNA directly from the well with a pipette
• Improve cloning results - minimize DNA damage and get more colony forming units for any cloning method

DNA extracted from CloneWell gels is compatible with common cloning methods such as restriction cloning, TOPO® cloning, and Gateway® cloning.

How it Works
The E-Gel® CloneWell 0.8% SYBR® Safe gel features two rows of wells (Figure 1). To extract your DNA band of interest without conventional gel purification, simply load your sample into the top row and electrophorese until your band moves into the bottom row of wells. Then use a pipette to easily remove your purified DNA band. Guides on the gel cassette help you track your band of interest so you know when your DNA of interest is ready for retrieval. There is no need to cut a gel slice and risk losing your DNA during a gel purification step. The 0.8% agarose concentration is ideal for separating bands up to 5 kb in length. SYBR® Safe DNA Gel Stain is incorporated into the gel itself, allowing you to visually monitor migration on a blue-light transilluminator, such as the Safe Imager™ Blue-Light Transilluminator.*

Self-contained Power System
E-Gel® CloneWell SYBR® Safe gels run in the E-Gel® iBase™ Power System (the new E-Gel® iBase™ Power System is compatible with all low throughput E-Gels). This self-contained device includes a built-in power supply. Simply connect the AC adaptor provided and plug into an electrical outlet. View program selection and running time on the easy-to-read LCD display. Preset programs are available for various gel types or you can manually set your own run times. A reverse program allows you to change the field direction, ensuring complete capture of DNA. In addition, the E-Gel® iBase™ Power System includes an automatic shutoff feature, so you wont overrun your gel. The E-Gel® iBase™ Power System fits on a Safe Imager™ Blue-Light Transilluminator (Figure 2) so you can safely watch the DNA bands migrate in the gel. The use of SYBR® Safe DNA Gel Stain and Safe Imager™ Transilluminator ensure maximum possible safety to the user and give improved cloning efficiency over ethidium bromide and UV.

Contents and Storage:
The E-Gel® CloneWell 0.8% SYBR® Safe Gel and iBase™ Starter Kit includes 18 CloneWell gels, and 1 E-Gel® iBase™ Power System. The E-Gel® CloneWell 0.8% SYBR® Safe gel, 18-Pak contains 18 CloneWell gels. Store at room temperature. Gels are guaranteed stable for six months when properly stored.
