The Thermo Scientific™ ARL™ X900 XRF Spectrometer is a robust WDXRF analyzer with XRD capability that provides quick, precise elemental composition results, thanks to dual loading of samples and fast analysis. With a reliable design to maximize productivity, the ARL X900 Spectrometer can keep up with modern metals, cement and mining production and process control needs.

Elemental analysis is a cornerstone of the mining, cement, and metals industries. The ability to quickly and accurately assess the elements present in raw materials, products, and by-products is essential to those industries' ability to ensure the quality of their products and their process. The ARL X900 sequential/simultaneous wavelength-dispersive XRF spectrometer is the most suitable for XRF elemental analysis and process control. It delivers reliable and precise elemental analysis results quickly, whatever your process control needs. It delivers Maximum reliability, and durability is obtained through a careful and robust design principles, engineered to handle demanding industrial settings. The analytical core of the ARL X900 Spectrometer, is protected inside a vacuum chamber that ensures very stable analytical conditions. The 'tube above sample' geometry is inherently safe. This means fewer unplanned interventions, and excellent short- and long-term stability, which is critical for good analytical results.

Application domains:

Metals: cast irons, steels, slags, ferro-alloys, direct reduced iron; copper, brass and bronze alloys; aluminum smelting (bath ratio) and aluminum alloys; zinc alloys, tin alloys, magnesium alloys, nickel alloys, super-alloys, titanium alloys, cobalt alloys

Cement: raw meal, clinker, slags, limestone, free lime and clinker phases, etc.

Mining & minerals: rocks, ores, concentrators, etc.

Others: ceramics, glasses, polymers, contract laboratories

Features:

  • Combined simultaneous and sequential WDXRF capabilities, bringing unrivalled analytical flexibility and speed
  • Able to perform elemental analysis with concentrations ranging from parts per million to 100%
    • Flexibility with sequential analysis from B to Am with goniometer
    • Ultra-fast simultaneous analysis with fixed channel monochromators
  • Compact XRD for additional crystalline phase analysis provides two techniques in one instrument
  • Durable and robust instrument design with tube above geometry and a single analysis chamber imparts maximum reliability
  • 'LoVap technology' X-ray tube ensures excellent long-term stability and outstanding analytical performance
  • Fast dual-sample loader optimizes throughput by reducing dead time between measurements.
  • Factory calibrations enable immediate use for a wide range of applications
  • UniQuant Standardless analysis provides analysis results of unknown samples within minutes
  • OXSAS Analytical Software includes all the features needed for data management, instrument control, calibration, instrument set-up and diagnostics with wide analytical capacity and flexibility
  • Optional automation capabilities allow automatic, unattended round-the-clock operation

Efficiency and flexibility

Faster analysis and increased throughput are achieved with the dual-sample loader that reduces dead time between samples: During sample analysis, the next sample is being loaded. Further time savings are achieved by combining simultaneous analysis and sequential analysis, working in parallel, in one spectrometer. The system is configurable with up to 32 fixed channels, up to 2 goniometers, and a compact XRD system.

Automation and software

Automation is available to increase sample throughput, improve repeatability, and allow operations to meet tighter product specifications and time pressures without increasing overhead costs. All automation solutions are customized to meet your specific requirements.

The ARL X900 Spectrometer uses Thermo Scientific™ OXSAS™ Analytical Software. This simple, flexible, and powerful software is easy to use, no matter what the requirements are. From simple tasks to complex jobs, OXSAS Software allows them to be defined easily and performed quickly. Automated control makes unattended analysis possible, while programming can ensure support of priority samples.

Several features on the ARL X900 Spectrometer enhance process control in multiple ways:

  • Simple EasyOXSAS interface for streamlined routine analysis
  • Numerous customizable on-line processing functions, with manual or automatic application
  • Real on-line integrated statistical process control (SPC)
  • SCT Manager provides status and history of setting-up samples, control samples, and type standards, thus giving an overview of the analytical capability of the instrument and of each method at any time
