General Description

• Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that disrupts protein synthesis by interfering with the aminoacyl-tRNA ribosome complex

• Clindamycin decreases sebaceous gland activity and blocks the neuromuscular junction

Application

• Clindamycin is commonly used in laboratory applications to inhibit the growth anaerobic microbes, but has some effectiveness against aerobic microbes as well

• It can be used in the laboratory study of cell culture for resistance testing, or in antibiotic allergic reaction studies
