Description

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
General Description
• Albumin bovine/fraction V is a serum albumin protein commonly used in laboratory experiments including, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISAs), immunoblots and immune-histochemistry or -fluorescence
Applications
• Albumin bovine/fraction V displays blocking activity mainly when casein-sensitive antibodies, including phospho-specific antibodies, are used
• In genetic approaches this compound can be used to increase polymerase chain reactions (PCR) yields from low purity templates
• This compound is useful for stabilizing enzymes during storage and also for enzymatic reactions where the absence of nucleases is crucial
• In in vitro cultures, albumin bovine/fraction V has been applied as a nutrient in cell and microbial cultures especially when serum-free media is used
• It is commonly used as a protein standard to obtain calibration curves for several laboratorial experiments
• Albumin bovine/fraction V is a small protein commonly used in immunohistochemistry to block nonspecific regions. The binding of this compound to nonspecific binding sites increases the probability of the antibodies binds only to the region of interest.
