Do I need to use PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply Adapters with the PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply even if I have Invitrogen gel tanks?

The PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply Adapters are designed to facilitate the connection of some electrophoresis tanks to the PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply. The adapters are designed to remain on the electrophoresis tank electrical leads when the lid is removed from the power supply. The supported electrophoresis tanks include:

- ZOOM IPGRunner Mini-cell
- XCell SureLock Mini-Cell
- Mini Gel Tank
- XCell4 SureLock Midi-Cell
Note: The PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply Adapters are not needed for use of the SureLock Tandem Midi Gel Tank with the PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply.

Why does the PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply come with power supply adapters?

For safety purposes, the output jacks of the PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply have been recessed compared to other PowerEase Touch power supplies. This requires a firm elongation of the leads on the cables of the tank and this is achieved using the power supply adapters that are provided. The adapters are designed to remain on the electrophoresis tank electrical leads when the lid is removed from the power supply.

How many gels can I simultaneously transfer using the PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply?

The PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply can be used for simultaneous transfer of 2 mini gels. We do not recommend using it for transfer of midi gels.

How many ZOOM IPG Strips can I simultaneously run using the PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply?

The PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply can be used for simultaneous running of 48 ZOOM IPG Strips.

How many gels can I simultaneously run using the PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply?

The PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply can be used for simultaneous running of 8 IEF gels, 4 mini gels, or 2 midi gels for SDS-PAGE.

Which applications can be run using the PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply?

The PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply is ideal for high voltage separation such as isoelectric focusing (IEF gels and IPG Strips) and 2-D electrophoresis. In addition, it also supports DNA/RNA electrophoresis.

Can the PowerEase Touch 600W Power Supply be used to run ZOOM IPG strips?

No, ZOOM IPG strips require a voltage ramp up to 2000 V to be run. We recommend using the PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply to run ZOOM IPG Strips.

Can I use the PowerEase Touch 120W or PowerEase Touch 350W Power Supply to run isoelectric focusing (IEF) gels?

The voltage required for running of IEF gels cannot be reached with the PowerEase Touch 120W or the PowerEase Touch 350W Power Supply. We recommend using the PowerEase Touch 600W Power Supply or PowerEase Touch HV Power Supply for running IEF gels.
