Selectively isolate Campylobacter species from fecal specimens with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Campylobacter Selective Medium (leaked horse blood, vancomycin, polymyxin B, trimethoprim, cefaperazone). The medium is a modification of original Skirrow formula with the addition of 50 mg/l of cefoperazone. Cefoperazon is a cephalosporin antibiotic with enhanced activity against pseudomonas and members of the Enterobacteriaceae.
Campylobacter jejuni is a major cause of acute diarrheal diseae in humans1. It has worldwide distribution, and is ubiquitous in domestic pets and food animals.
Campylobacter Selective Agar is supplemented with a range of antimicrobials to inhibit background flora (including vancomycin, polymyxin B, trimethoprim, cefaperazone).
