Remel™ Hunt Medium Base

Selectively isolate Campylobacter spp. from dairy and food products with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Hunt Medium Base (Dehydrated) with addition of enrichment and selective agents. Hunt Enrichment Broth is recommended for the isolation of Campylobacter by AOAC International (AOAC), the American Public Health Association (APHA)^1-3.

Campylobacter spp. are highly infective bacteria carried in the intestinal tract of domestic and wild animals. Consumption of water and food contaminated with untreated animal waste accounts for enteric illnesses which on becoming invasive may lead to meningitis, pneumonia, miscarriage, and Guillain-Barre’ syndrome.

Hunt Enrichment Broth is recommended for isolation of Campylobacter by AOAC International (AOAC) and the American Public Health Association (APHA).

This medium contains beef extract and meat peptone which supply essential amino acids, peptides, nitrogenous substances and  nutrients that are necessary for growth. Sodium chloride supplies essential electrolytes and maintains osmotic equilibrium. Yeast extract enhances growth by providing B-complex. Lysed horse blood provides growth enhancement.
